MANAWA – The Spencer/Columbus Catholic football team won its second-straight game as it hung on to defeat Manawa 13-10 in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division matchup Friday night at Little Wolf High School.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Spencer/Columbus struck first as Carter Luepke scored from the 5-yard line and Mac Konieczny kicked an extra point to make it 7-0.
Manawa wasted little time evening things up as Thomas Bartelt returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, and Dakota Stroud kicked a 35-yard field goal later in the second quarter to give the Wolves a 10-7 lead.
Landon Behselich, who ran for 136 yards, scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter to put the Rockets up 13-10 and their defense did the rest, holding Manawa scoreless in the second half.
Spencer/Columbus (2-6, 2-4 CWC Large) held Manawa (2-6, 1-5 CWC Large) to just 93 total yards and forced three turnovers.
