Stratford volleyball wins Division 3 regional title with home win over Edgar

STRATFORD – The Stratford volleyball team is moving on to sectionals after topping Marawood Conference rival Edgar 3-1 in a WIAA Division 3 regional final Saturday night at Stratford High School.

The top-seed Stratford won 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, and will host No. 2 seed La Crosse Aquinas for a D-3 sectional semifinal Thursday at 7 p.m.

Aquinas dispatched Abbotsford 3-0 on Saturday.

Mineral Point and Cuba City will play in the other sectional semifinal, with the winners playing for a sectional title and a berth in the 2023 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament in Green Bay on Saturday at Westby High School.

Kalyn Schueller had 17 kills and 27 digs, Daisy Yoder added 11 kills, and Emerson Roy had 24 assists to pace the Tigers.

Laney Pankratz added 13 assists, McKenzie Novotny had 10 kills, four service aces and 11 digs, and Carly Pankratz had 13 digs as well in the victory for Stratford.
