Marshfield boys swimming wins six events, rolls to team title at Chippewa Falls Cardinal Invitational

CHIPPEWA FALLS – Marshfield won six of the 11 events and pulled off a dominating first-place finish at the Chippewa Falls Cardinal Boys Swimming Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers won the invitational for the second year in a row as they racked up 529 points. River Falls was a distant second with 348.

Zach Kayhart won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.32 and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.47, and Simon Dagit was first in the 100 butterfly in 56.01 seconds for Marshfield’s three individual wins.

The Tigers also won all three relays. The team of Kayhart, Kevin Buth, Dagit and Hayden Nelson was first in the 200 medley relay in 1:50.70; the 200 freestyle relay team of Luke Hilbelink, Carson Klumb, Colton Nelson and Henry Hilbelink won in 1:40.57; and Dagit, Luke Hilbelink, Colton Nelson, Hayden Nelson, Buth, Klumb, Kayhart and Henry Hilbelink won the 8×50 freestyle relay in 3:19.53.

Marshfield will swim in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.
