OSHKOSH – The Oshkosh Ice Hawks scored three goals in the third period to bust open a tie game and defeat Marshfield 5-3 in a nonconference boys hockey game Thursday at the Oshkosh YMCA Ice Arena.

Marshfield battled back from a 2-0 deficit as Tyler Reissmann scored twice in a one-minute span of the second period, tying the game heading into the third.

The Ice Hawks scored twice in the opening 12 minutes before Marshfield’s Blake Meissner brought the Tigers to within a goal. However, Marshfield couldn’t find a way to tie it up again and Oshkosh added an empty net goal with seven seconds remaining to finish off the scoring.

Reed Gieseking had 20 saves in goal for the Tigers, who drop to 2-5 this season.

Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at Waupaca.
