Columbus Catholic girls basketball earns comeback win over Colby

COLBY – The Columbus Catholic girls basketball overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Colby 53-49 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday night at Colby High School.

The Dons outscored Colby 34-25 in the second half to earn their third-straight win, all in comeback fashion, and improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Cloverbelt East.

Maggie Callaghan had 13 points, Gracie Wilczek added 11 and Mattea Schalfke scored 10 for Columbus Catholic.

Dakota Hoeper led Colby (3-6, 1-4 Cloverbelt East) with 16 points.

Columbus Catholic will compete at the Sentry Classic at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, playing games against Almond-Bancroft at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, and at 12:45 p.m. against Stevens Point Pacelli on Saturday, Dec. 30.
