Neillsville hands Auburndale girls basketball its first loss of season

AUBURNDALE – The Neillsville defense suffocated Auburndale, holding the Eagles to just 10 made field goals and handed them their first loss of the season 59-25 in a nonconference girls basketball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Neillsville (9-2) rolled out to a 34-15 lead by halftime and limited Auburndale (7-1) to only 10 points in the second half to finish off the victory.

Paris Opelt and Madi Davel each scored 14 points for the Warriors.

No Auburndale player made more than one field goal in either half. Rose Hasenohrl topped the Eagles with two 3-pointers and six points.

Auburndale hosts Lena for another nonconference game on Friday at 3 p.m.
