Auburndale girls basketball uses free throw advantage to down Stratford

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team used a decisive advantage at the free throw line to down Stratford 56-49 and stay undefeated in the Marawood Conference South Division.

The Eagles finished 20-for-28 at the free throw line, while Stratford struggled, making just 8 of 22, which provided the difference in the outcome.

Lily Bellanti scored 16 points and Myah Katzenberger added 11 points for Auburndale, which snaps a three-game losing streak and improves to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the Marawood South.

Sailor Kauffman had 11 points for Stratford (6-7, 4-3 Marawood South).

Both teams host Marawood Conference crossover games on Friday. Auburndale plays Chequamegon at 5:30 p.m. and Stratford will be at home against Abbotsford at 7:15 p.m.
