Undefeated Marathon hands Auburndale boys basketball its first conference loss

AUBURNDALE – Marathon opened up a double-digit lead by halftime and were able to finish off Auburndale with a 60-39 win in a battle of Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball leaders on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

The Raiders led 34-23 at intermission and held Auburndale to just 16 points in the second half, ending the Eagles’ nine-game winning streak.

Auburndale shot just 28 percent from the field (14-for-48) and were only 2-for-18 from 3-point range in the loss, dropping to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the Marawood South.

Grant Warren had 16 points and Tyler Underwood kicked in 15 points for Marathon, which remains undefeated at 12-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

Kaden Anderson topped Auburndale with 14 points.

Auburndale travels to Rib Lake for a Marawood Conference crossover game Thursday.
