Auburndale wrestling defeats Amherst, Stevens Point at home triangular

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale wrestling team earned a pair of nonconference wins in a home triangular Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

The Eagles defeated Amherst 47-18 and Stevens Point 48-24.

Truxton Becker (106 pounds), Zade Grassel (126), Trevor Trowbridge (132) and Colton Weiler (144) had pins for Auburndale in the win over Amherst.

Derek Godard added a 6-0 win at 120, Tanner Wargowsky had a major decision victory at 150, and Coleman Becker (138) and Wyatt Malsin (175) also had victories for the Eagles.

Auburndale had seven pins against Stevens Point – Greg Brummund at 215, Becker at 106, Godard at 120, Zade Grassel at 126, Trowbridge at 132, Becker at 138 and Weiler at 144.

Carter Grassel added a 6-2 win at 157 pounds, and Malsin won 6-3 at 175.

Auburndale will compete at the Wausau East Invitational on Saturday in its final regular-season competition. The Marawood Conference Tournament follows on Jan. 27.
