Marshfield boys swimming comes up short to D.C. Everest

MARSHFIELD – D.C. Everest won 10 of the 11 races and held on for a 91-79 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet Tuesday at Marshfield High School in the Tigers’ home finale.

D.C. Everest clinches the regular-season title in the WVC, finishing 7-0-1.

The Tigers’ lone win came from the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Simon Dagit, Kevin Buth, Carson Klumb and Henry Hilbelink, which won in 1:35.91.

Marshfield had second-place finishes from Klumb in the 200 freestyle (2:02.79), Henry Hilbelink in the 50 freestyle (24.10 seconds), Dagit in the 100 butterfly (55.70), Carlos Koehn in the 500 freestyle (5:44.60), Zach Kayhart in the 100 backstroke (1:02.68) and Buth in the 100 breastroke (1:11.90), as well as the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

In the diving competition, which did not count toward the team score, Alik Martin of Marshfield finished first with a score of 277.80.

Marshfield (3-4 WVC) will finish its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season at Wausau East/West on Jan. 25. The WVC Meet will be at Wisconsin Rapids on Feb. 1.
