Marshfield girls basketball can’t overcome slow start, loses at Lakeland

MINOCQUA – Kristina Ouimette drilled seven 3-pointers and finished with 38 points to lead Lakeland past Marshfield 72-54 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at Lakeland High School.

The Tigers fell behind 32-17 by halftime and played close to even the rest of the way, but couldn’t overcome the play of Ouimette.

Zaida Kolbeck made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and McKenzie Holm had four 3-pointers and 12 points for Marshfield, which drops to 9-5 this season.

Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Friday at Merrill. The Tigers are 5-0 in conference play, holding a one-half game lead over 4-0 Stevens Point in the conference standings.
