Two Marshfield curling teams earn first-place finishes at Tietge Bonspiel in Wausau

WAUSAU – The Marshfield High School curling teams recently competed at the 71st Annual Tietge Bonspiel held at the Wausau Curling Club on Jan. 5-6.

A total of 22 boys teams and 22 girls teams from across Wisconsin competed in the two-day tournament. It is considered the largest high school curling event of its kind in the country.

Marshfield won the boys division in the First Event, Marshfield’s Team 3 girls finished fourth in the Fourth Event, and the Marshfield Girls Team 1 placed second in the Second Event at the tournament.

Team members for the Marshfield boys were Antonio Koehn, John Klumb, Trevor Meyer and Cade Meyer. The team is coached by Dave Steinmetz and Mike Behling.

The Marshfield girls Team 1 members are Edyn Vechinski, Morgan Vechinski, Esme DeJarlias and Sydney Venske. Members of the Marshfield girls Team 3 are Claire Dorhorst, Hannah LaPointe, Madi Cole, Jasmine Booth.

Marshfield’s next competition is Monday at Stevens Point.
