Assumption outlasts Auburndale to wrap up Marawood South girls basketball title

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Auburndale girls basketball team took top-ranked and undefeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption to the brink but fell short in the end, losing 43-37 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday night at Assumption High School.

Following a slow first half that saw Assumption take a 17-9 lead into the break, the Royals were able to hold off Auburndale the rest of the way sweep the two-game home-and-home series. Assumption won at Auburndale by 24 points on Monday.

Jordyn Jaglinski made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points for Assumption, which improves to 16-0 and 12-0 in the Marawood South. The Royals wrap up their fourth-straight Marawood South championship with the victory.

Hope Schulte led Auburndale (11-7, 8-4 Marawood South) with 14 points.

Auburndale is back at home Monday for a nonconference game against Pittsville.
