Marshfield girls curling team beats Wausau West, boys lose to Warriors

WAUSAU – The Marshfield varsity and JV curling teams split matches with Wausau West on Monday.

Both of the Tigers girls teams won, while the boys teams lost.

The Marshfield varsity girls, ranked fourth in the state, beat West, ranked sixth, 9-3. Marshfield team members are Neehal Shukla (lead), Erica Ede (second), Maria Brix (third) and Jillian Behling (skip).

The girls JV knocked off West 8-5. Playing for the Tigers were Shawna O’Brien (lead), Mariah Luedtke (second), Cassie Strebe (third) and Mckenna Schultz (skip).

The No. 1 state-ranked Wausau West boys varsity beat Marshfield, ranked fifth, 7-3. Marshfield team members are Hunter Welch (lead), Brandon Fahey (second), Jacob Ferch (third) and Luke Behling (skip).

The Marshfield JV boys team also lost to West, 6-5. Playing for the Tigers were John Dickinson (lead), Lucas Roselle (second), Noah Behling (third) and Nolan Schmidt (skip).

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Marshfield Curling Club.
