Stratford wrestlers win Division 3 title at Bi-State Classic

LA CROSSE – The Stratford wrestling team won the Division 3 title for the second straight year at the Bi-State Classic on Monday and Tuesday.

The Tigers racked up 304½ points to run away with the D-3 team title. Lancaster was a distant second with 136½ points. Auburndale was seventh with 100 points.

Marshfield finished 15th in the Division 1 standings with 85½ points. Hudson was the Division 1 title, while Luxemburg-Casco took the team title in Division 2.

Overall, 54 teams competed in the two-day tournament.

Stratford had a pair of individual champions and four others place in the top four.

Mason Kauffman won the 126-pound title for Stratford, knocking off Nick Cahalan of De Soto 7-3 in the championship match to improve to 18-0 this season.

Hunter Kauffman also improved to 18-0, winning the 220-pound title for Stratford. He defeated Charles Serauskas of Holmen 5-4.

A.J. Schoenfuss was second at 106, Jeremy Schoenherr (113) and Anthony Gliniecki (120) finished third, and Kamren Bornbach (182) was fourth for Stratford.

Marshfield had two wrestlers place eighth for its top individual performances. Anthony Kanable (126) and Josh Lang (195) each lost a seventh-place match.

Auburndale had three wrestlers finish in the top 10. Paul Willfahrt (145) and Wyatt Weiler (170) each took seventh, and Kurt Jankowski (182) was ninth.
