Columbus Catholic boys basketball beats Neillsville, wraps up undefeated Cloverbelt East season

NEILLSVILLE – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team completed its second-straight undefeated Cloverbelt Conference East Division campaign with a 60-43 victory over Neillsville on Wednesday at Neillsville High School.

The Dons improve to 19-2 overall and finish the Cloverbelt East season a perfect 16-0. Neillsville drops to 16-4 and 12-3 in the conference.

Nick Malovrh had 18 points and Ethan Meece added 14 points for the Dons.

Both teams will be in action Saturday at the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers at Osseo-Fairchild. Neillsville will play Altoona at 1 p.m. in the second-place game, and Columbus Catholic will take on Osseo-Fairchild in the first-place game at approximately 3 p.m.

Columbus, which won its third-straight Cloverbelt East championship, opens WIAA postseason action Tuesday at home against Tigerton in a Division 5 regional quarterfinal.
