Stratford boys take third, girls seventh at Ripon College indoor track meet

RIPON – The Stratford boys finished third and girls placed seventh at the Red Hawk Track & Field Challenge on Tuesday at the Willmore Center on the campus of Ripon College.

The indoor event featured mostly Division 1 and 2 teams as Stratford more than held its own as it had 19 top-eight finishes at the meet.

Payton Glenn won the boys long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 4 ½ inches, and was part of the 800-meter relay team, along with Zander Zawislan, Coltan Breit and Jett Schoenherr, that won the event in 1:35.54 for the Tigers.

Schoenherr placed second in the 200 meters in 24.09 seconds and third in the 60 in 7.08 seconds, Breit took second in the long jump in 19-10½, Cree Defoe placed third in the 1,600 (4:44.79), Connor Kreft was third (39-2½) and Brandon Knetter fourth (39-2¼) in the triple jump, the 1,600 relay team of Zawislan, Garrett Zuelke, Kaden Foster and Xander Curtice took third in 3:43.07, and Koehler Kilty took fourth in the shot put (48-11) as well for the Stratford boys.

Brianna Sherden continued her strong start to the season for the Stratford girls, placing second in the long jump (16-4), third in the 60 (8.17 seconds) and fourth in the 200 (27.56).

Kayla Casperson placed fourth in the 800 (2:33.60) and sixth in the 1,600 (5:43.29); Breleigh Skaya took fifth in the 3,200 (13:38.42); and placing eighth for Stratford were the 1,600 relay team of Sadie Weigel, Dawnyel Martin, Emily Zuelke and Kassedey Downey (4:42.78), Peyton Drexler in the shot put (30-3¾), and Emily Rundle in the triple jump (31-6).

Stratford will compete at the Marawood Conference Indoor Meet at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Monday.
