Stratford baseball blanks Spencer

STRATFORD – Drew Gage and Brady Berg combined for a six-hit shutout as the Stratford baseball team knocked off Spencer 9-0 in a nonconference matchup Monday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

Gage struck out seven in four innings, scattering five hits, and Berg finished up with three shutout innings with only one hit allowed to earn the save for the Tigers, who improve to 3-0.

Stratford scored three times in the first inning, added two more in the second and finished off the scoring with a four-run sixth.

Riley Spindler and Henry Zaleski each had two hits and an RBI, and Landon Zawislan drove in a pair for the Tigers.

Kayden Dietsche had two of Spencer’s six hits. The Rockets fall to 1-2.

Spencer hosts Pittsville for another nonconference game Tuesday at 5 p.m. Stratford will not be back in action until next Monday, April 15, when it is at home against Marathon at 4:45 p.m.
