RICHLAND CENTER – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team blew past UW-Richland Center in the second half, cruising ot a 71-39 win on Wednesday night.

The Marauders outscored Richland Center 39-13 in the second half after holding a 32-26 halftime lead.

Paige Albrecht scored 24 points and added seven steals, Ashley Pongratz had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Karlee Rosentreter added 10 points for the Marauders, who improve to 6-10 overall and 6-8 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference.

“In the first half we didn’t take care of the ball at all,” Marshfield coach Lori Galetka said. “We talked about that at halftime and came out more settled. We played solid defense in the second half as well by stepping into the passing lanes, applying good ball pressure and creating turnovers. We’ve been playing well together as a team the second half of the season, so we’ll keep plugging away and see what happens.”

The Marauders next game is Monday at UW-Fond du Lac.
