Stratford wrestling team rolls Amherst

AMHERST – The Stratford High School wrestling team’s final tune-up before Saturday’s Marawood Conference Tournament was as dominating as any this season.

The Tigers won the first three matches by pin and went on to a 60-18 rout of Amherst in a nonconference dual meet Thursday at Amherst High School.

Mark Marquardt (152 pounds), Andre Tackes (160) and Ben Robers (171) started the meet with pins for the Tigers. Four straight forfeits followed, giving Stratford a commanding 42-0 lead.

Jake Guyer (130) and Brandon McHugh (145) also had pins for Stratford.

Saturday’s Marawood Conference Meet at Athens High School starts at 9 a.m.
