Marshfield girls basketball wraps up unbeaten Wisconsin Valley Conference season

MERRILL – The Marshfield girls basketball team finished its regular season with a 43-32 victory over Merrill on Thursday night at Merrill High School.

The Tigers won their sixth game in a row and wrap up the Wisconsin Valley Conference season with a perfect 12-0 record. It is the fourth straight WVC championship for Marshfield (19-3 overall). Merrill finishes 8-14 overall and 6-6 in the Valley.

Eleni Seitz scored 20 points to lead Marshfield. Taylor Varsho scored nine points and is just 11 points away from breaking Jamie Braun’s single-season team scoring record of 465 points.

Marshfield has received a bye in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 playoffs and will host a regional final on March 12 against the winner of the Hudson-D.C. Everest semifinal game that is scheduled for Tuesday.
