Columbus Catholic girls basketball team wins Cloverbelt Crossover over McDonell

MARSHFIELD – Elizabeth Manlick made 11 of 13 shots from the free-throw line and finished with 21 points, five steals and five rebounds to lead the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 41-32 win over Chippewa Falls McDonell in the sixth-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Thursday night at Columbus High School.

Abby Gotz added eight points on 4 of 6 shooting, helping the Dons to their second win in a row. Columbus finishes its regular season with a 7-13 record. McDonell finishes 10-11.

Columbus held McDonell to one field goal in the first quarter and pulled out to a 10-3 lead, one they never relinquished.

The Dons finished 16 of 22 from the free-throw line, including 11 of 14 in the fourth quarter.

Columbus opens its postseason Tuesday in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal at Loyal.
