Augusta sweeps Columbus Catholic softball

AUGUSTA – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team got its bats going on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough as it dropped a Cloverbelt Conference East Division doubleheader to Augusta 5-2 and 21-13.

The Dons fall to 0-6 overall and in the Cloverbelt East, while Augusta improves to 2-6 and 2-5 in conference with its first two wins of the season.

Haley Orella had two hits and Elizabeth Manlick and McKenna Immerfall scored runs in the opener for Columbus.

Erin Knoeck, Manlick and Orella each went 4-for-5 in the nightcap as the Dons pounded out 24 hits. Manlick, Orella and Tori Schlagenhaft each scored three times in the loss.

Immerfall and Schlagenhaft added three hits each in Game 2.

Columbus plays at Gilman on Thursday and hosts Neillsville at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on Friday.
