Auburndale’s Tony Altmann and Stratford’s Jake Kauth earned second-team honors to lead their respective teams on the list of the All-Marawood Conference South Division baseball team for the 2011 season.
Altmann, a junior, was third on the Apaches with a .372 batting average, and led the team with six doubles and 11 RBIs.
Kauth, a sophomore, was Statford’s top pitcher, striking out 41 in 49 1/3 innings. He had a 4.12 ERA and was second on the Tigers with eight runs scored.
Jesse Brokish and Blake Anderson of Auburndale, and Jamie Aschbrock and Connor Brock of Stratford, were honorable mention selections.
Edgar had three first-team selections – seniors Dakota Heidmann, Dalton Lehman and Reed Lehman – and Marathon, Wausau Newman Catholic and Pittsville each landed two players on the first team.
Marathon’s Cody Hanke was named the Marawood South Player of the Year, while Jon Albee of Edgar and Dan Smet of Wausau Newman shared coach of the year honors.
Hanke was 5-0 as a pitcher with a 1.24 ERA, striking out 62 in 39 2/3 innings. He also hit a team-best .429 for Marathon and led the conference with seven home runs. He added 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
