TOMAHAWK – The Stratford football team pounded Tomahawk 47-18 on Friday night to set up a Marawood Conference showdown next week.
The Tigers improve to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the Marawood, setting up a mega-tilt with fellow conference unbeaten Edgar next Friday at Stratford High School.
Edgar (6-0, 5-0 Marawood) pounded Phillips 63-0 on Friday.
Edgar has beaten Stratford the past two seasons on its way to Marawood and undefeated WIAA Division 6 state championships.
Stratford led 21-12 at halftime before exploding for 19 third-quarter points to pull away.
Eli Temanson ran for 131 yards on just eight carries and scored on touchdown runs of 38, 48 and 18 yards to spark the Tigers’ offense.
Travis Urlaub added 107 yards on only 10 carries and scored a 41-yard touchdown.
Derek Austin caught all three of Nolan Bargender’s completion, two for touchdowns of 15 and 9 yards.
Overall, Stratford outgained Tomahawk 378-232, including 342-129 on the ground.
