Marshfield girls win, boys second at Wisconsin Rapids cross country dual

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield cross country teams split in a dual meet at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.

The Marshfield girls defeated Rapids 24-45, and the Tigers boys lost 21-34 in the first meet run at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School since 1986.

Leah Cherney placed second, Alexis Dzikowich was fourth, Sara Fuller fifth, Melissa Brix sixth and Jennifer Kaiser seventh for the Marshfield girls. Ashley Holubets finshed eighth and Dani Sopairz took ninth for the Tigers.

The girls race was won by Morgan Elingza of Rapids in 16:39.

Buck Jones of Wisconsin Rapids won the boys race in 17:38.

Marshfield’s Max Tibbett took third, Mitch Fischer was fifth, Kody Hastreiter finished seventh, Josh Herron was ninth and Talon Labreck took 10th. Jake Akin was 11th and Cole Irish took 14th to round out the Tigers’ lineup.

The Tigers are in action again on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Chippewa Falls Invitational.
