Danica Harrison wins girls race, Luke Haas second in boys race for Auburndale at Edgar Cross Country Invite

RIB MOUNTAIN – Danica Harrison won her seventh girls race of the season and Luke Haas took second in the boys race to pace the Auburndale cross country teams at the Edgar Invitational on Tuesday at Nine Mile Forest.

Harrison won the girls race in 15:25.3, easily distancing herself from Tory Palmer of Pittsville, who was second in 15:55.8.

Emma Steines, Sam Karl, Heather Nigh and Stafani Karl finished between 25th and 36th to help the Apaches finish third in the girls team standings. Edgar won with 56 points, nine ahead of Colby/Abbotsford and 41 ahead of Auburndale.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic took eighth, led by a 13th-place finish from Claire Pinter (17:06.9).

Luke Haas finished second in 17:38.9, five seconds behind Colby/Abbotsford’s Andrew Kaiser in the boys race.

David Haas ended up sixth in 18:27.2 for the Apaches, who ended up fifth in the team standings. Eau Claire Regis edged Colby/Abbotsford 92-93 to win the team title.

Columbus was sixth, 55 points behind Auburndale. Travis Wienke led the Dons by taking 28th in 19:35.2, 5 seconds ahead of teammate and 31st-place finisher Tyler Derfus.
