Marshfield boys hockey team pounds Tomah in season opener

TOMAH – The Marshfield boys hockey team kicked off its 2011-12 season with a resounding 8-0 win over host Tomah at the two-day Tomah Hockey Tournament on Friday.

Zach Leggon and Alex Krasne got the Tigers off to a quick start, scoring in the second half of the first period to put Marshfield up 2-0.

Bobby Leggon, Cole Irish, Zach Leggon and Austin Littmann scored in the second period to bust the game open for Marshfield.

Littmann and Zach Alboreo finished off the scoring with goals in a 32-second span of the third period.

Irish finished with three assists and Bo Howard had two.

Mac Alboreo had 15 saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Tigers.

Marshfield will play Sauk Prairie in the championship game on Saturday. Sauk Prairie beat Black River Falls 8-0 on Friday.
