Stratford boys basketball stays unbeaten in Marawood South with rout of Edgar

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team continued its hot start to the season with a suffocating 36-19 win over Edgar in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday night at Stratford High School.

The win allows the Tigers to keep pace for first place in the Marawood South with a perfect 4-0 mark, and they improve to 6-1 overall. Edgar falls to 1-5 and 0-4 in the conference.

Stratford built a 15-9 lead by halftime and didn’t allow Edgar more than six points in any quarter.

Edgar shot just 9 of 27 from the field as the Tigers had 13 steals.

Derek Austin scored 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range to lead Stratford. Troy Mengel added eight points for the Tigers.

Stratford plays at Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday.
