WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Megan Buntrock held Marshfield Columbus Catholic to two hits to lead Wisconsin Rapids Assumption to a 7-0 win over the Dons in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal softball game Thursday.
Assumption plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and that proved to be enough for Buntrock, who struck out eight and walked just one for the Royals (12-8), who move on to a regional semifinal at Port Edwards on Tuesday.
Katelyn Welsh pitched well for the Dons (2-19), walking just one and striking out eight.
Assumption added three runs in the third and two in the fifth to open up a big lead.
