Auburndale’s Harrison, Stratford’s Temanson qualify for state track meet in three events at WIAA Division 3 Rosholt sectional

ROSHOLT – Auburndale senior Danica Harrison won a pair of sectional titles and will join three teammates in the 3,200 relay at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships after competing at the Division 3 sectional at Rosholt on Thursday.

Harrison won the 3,200 meters in 12:18.76 and the 1,600 in 5:35.56 to qualify for state in each event for the third year in a row. She finished ninth in the 3,200 and 10th in the 1,600 last year at the state meet.

Harrison will join Abby Bauer, Sam Karl and Emma Steines on the 3,200 relay team at state after finishing second at the sectional in a time of 10:18.95.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic had a pair of relay teams and a pair of individuals qualify for state by placing in the top four the sectional.

The girls 800 relay team of Mariah Heiman, Rachel Roehl, Hannah Stratman and Kayla Selz took third in 1:48.85, while the boys 3,200 relay team of David Cleveland, Eric Anderson, Tyler Derfus and Travis Wienke finished third in 8:31.74 to grab spots at state.

Heiman also qualified in the 100, placing fourth in 13.14 seconds, and Elizabeth Manlick took third in the long jump with a leap of 16-9½.

Stratford’s Eli Temanson will have a busy weekend in La Crosse after qualifying in three events. He placed second in the 200 (23.12), fourth in the pole vault (13-6) and was part of the 800 relay team of Dylan Kell, Kellen Bornbach and Jake Guyer that placed second (1:33.58).

Jake Griffith will join Temanson and the Tigers’ relay team at state after also qualifying in the pole vault by taking second with vault of 14-0.

Spencer’s lone state participant will be freshman Rachel Zastrow, who finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 9-6.
