Marshfield graduate Danielle Carlson earns Big East honor for Marquette volleyball

MILWAUKEE – Danielle Carlson, a 2009 graduate of Marshfield High School, was named to the Big East Conference Weekly Honor Roll this week after helping the Marquette University volleyball team to three wins last week.

Carlson, a senior hitter for the Golden Eagles, hit a combined .444 in wins over Western Michigan, Seton Hall and Rutgers last week. She had 13 kills in a win over Seton Hall and 12 in another victory over Rutgers – both 3-2 wins by Marquette as it improved to 7-0 this season in the Big East.

Marquette has won 10 straight matches and is 17-3 overall.

It is the second weekly honor this season for Carlson, and fifth of her four-year career. Carlson his hitting at a .374 clip this season and is second on the team in kills with 220 in 76 games played.

Marquette returns to action this weekend with a pair of home Big East matches. The Golden Eagles host Cincinnati on Friday and Louisville on Sunday at the Al McGuire Center.
