Marshfield girls hockey wins twice at Black River Falls Invitational

BLACK RIVER FALLS – The Marshfield girls hockey team used a four-goal second period to blow past Black River Falls 9-4 in the finale of the Black River Falls Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers also beat Rock County 4-3 earlier Saturday to finish the two-day tournament with a 2-1 record to open their season.

Paige Johnson had a hat trick for the Tigers, scoring three goals and adding two assists. Nell Eichten scored twice and the Tigers also had goals from Morgan Larson, Molly Schuster, Patty Jo Bloczynski and Lexi Dupee in the win.

Larson added three assists and goalie Alexis Straughan had 28 saves in goal for Marshfield.

Johnson had a goal and three assists in the victory over Rock County. Dupee, Bloczynski and Larson also scored for Marshfield. Straughan had 25 saves in that win.

Marshfield hosts Northland Pines on Monday in its home and Great Northern Conference opener.
