Marshfield grad Danielle Carlson, Marquette women’s volleyball moving on to NCAA tournament

MILWAUKEE – Marshfield graduate Danielle Carlson, a senior on the Marquette University women’s volleyball team, will be playing in the NCAA Tournament starting Friday when the Golden Eagles (27-6) take on Creighton in a first-round match in Minneapolis, Minn.

Carlson earned first-team all-Big East Conference, Academic All-District and Big East Conference All-Tournament team accolades this season.

Carlson led Marquette in attack percentage (.400), and was second in kills (357) and total blocks (121) this season.

Marquette finished second in the Big East Tournament, falling 3-0 to Louisville in the championship match on Nov. 18. The Golden Eagles finished their regular season with a 3-1 nonconference win over Northern Illinois on Nov. 24.

Marquette and Creighton will play at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the University of Minnesota and the winner will play in a second-round match against the Liberty-Minnesota winner at 7 p.m. Saturday. The survivor moves on to regional action Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 at a site to be determined.
