Marshfield fights off pesky Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Taylor Varsho scored 21 points and the Marshfield girls basketball team had to rally after blowing an 11-point lead to beat Wisconsin Rapids 45-42 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference season finale Thursday at Lincoln High School.

Marshfield led 16-5 after one quarter but saw the Raiders (10-12, 6-6 Wisconsin Valley Conference) come back to cut the Tigers’ lead to 23-22 by halftime.

Wisconsin Rapids moved ahead for a time in the third quarter, but the Tigers (19-2, 12-0 WVC) were able to get back into the lead and hold off the Raiders to complete an undefeated season in the conference.

Andie Varsho added 11 points for the Tigers, who wrap up their regular season Friday night at Lakeland.

Maisie Langholff scored 11 points and Steph Wisen had nine for the Raiders.
