Albrecht, Dons dominate Cornell

MARSHFIELD – Paige Albrecht is having quite a finish to her senior season at Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School.

A week after scoring a career-high 27 points, Albrecht scored 25 points to lead the Dons to a 63-41 victory over Cornell in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Tuesday at Columbus Catholic High School.

Albrecht made 10 of 16 shots from the field and 5 of 6 free throws to lead the way for Columbus.

The Dons took control in the second quarter, outscoring Cornell 23-4 to take a 41-14 lead at the break.

Kayla Fleishmann added 13 points for the Dons, who had 10 players in all find the scoring column.

Columbus (14-8) will host Cloverbelt Conference East Division rival Greenwood (14-8) in a regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday. The winner moves on to a regional final at Marathon on Saturday. The Dons beat Greenwood twice this season – 46-35 on Dec. 22 and 49-36 on Feb. 12.

Bianca Bonanke had 18 points to lead the Chiefs.
