Marshfield Chaparrals split twinbill with Spooner

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals used two big innings to down Spooner in the opener of a doubleheader Saturday, but the bats fell silent in Game 2 and the two teams split the twinbill at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield scored five runs in the first inning and four more in the sixth to win the opener 9-2, before losing the second game 2-1.

Ryan Metz had eight walks but did not allow a run in six innings to earn the win in Game 1 for the Chaps (8-3).

Austin Littmann, Ryan Schwanebeck and Jordan Litwatis each had two hits, and Littmann and Sam Schwanebeck both drove in a pair of runs for Marshfield.

Marshfield had only four hits and committed five errors in the Game 2 loss.

Ty Copeland tossed a seven-inning complete game for the Chaparrals, striking out six and walking three. One of the two runs he allowed was earned.

Marshfield is off until Wednesday when it plays at Taylor County.
