Columbus Catholic boys cross country third at Edgar Invitational

RIB MOUNTAIN – Sam Studinger finished 13th to lead a strong third-place finish for the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys cross country Tuesday at the Edgar Invitational at Nine-Mile Forest.

Studinger finished in 18:51.2, just 9 seconds out of a top-10 finish. Jeremy Binder was 20th (19:10.1), Ben Behling 21st (19:11.9) and Benny Frericks 28th (19:21.8) for the Dons.

Sam Bach of first-place Colby/Abbotsford won the meet in 17:33.4.

The Dons girls had just two runners take part, with Rachel Roehl taking 32nd (19:00.6) and Hannah Grubofski was 55th (21:11.5).

Edgar’s Jessi Krause won the girls race in 16:10.1, with Eau Claire Regis taking the team title.

Columbus will take part in the Spencer Invitational at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Frey Field.
