LA CROSSE – The Marshfield girls golf team’s season came to end with a seventh-place finish at the WIAA Division 1 sectional Tuesday at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse.
Eau Claire North (359) and River Falls (362) took the top two spots to qualify for the 2013 WIAA State Girls Golf Championships on Oct. 14-15 at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona.
Marshfield finished seventh with a 398 and did not have an individual qualifier.
Junior Molly Field had a 90 to finish ninth and miss out on a playoff for the final of the three individual state qualifiers. The top three finishers not on the top two teams also qualify for the state meet.
Senior Macy Fitzgerald finished in 20th place with a 97, sophomore Jordyn Fitzgerald tied for 35th with a 105, and sophomore Ana Jensen tied for 41st with a 106 for the Tigers.
The meet completes a terrific season for Marshfield, which won its first Clover Valley Golf League championship and tied for first at the Division 1 regional last week in Stevens Point.
