Spencer/Columbus football finishes season with win over Fall Creek

MARSHFIELD – The Spencer/Columbus football team ended a four-game losing streak and finished the season with a 21-13 win over Fall Creek at Columbus Catholic High School’s homecoming game at Beell Stadium.

The Rockets finish the season with a 3-6 record and a 2-5 mark in the Cloverbelt Conference. Fall Creek will move on to the WIAA playoffs with a 5-3 record and finish tied for third with a 4-3 record in the Cloverbelt.

Spencer/Columbus racked up 322 yards rushing, 232 by Mitch Susa, who also scored two touchdowns.

Spencer/Columbus answered both scores by Fall Creek in the first half as Susa ran for touchdowns of 75 and 20 yards, putting the Rockets up 14-13 at the break.

The Rockets held Fall Creek scoreless in the second half and Joe Meyers added an insurance touchdown with 5:57 to go in the fourth quarter, running in from 4 yards out.
