Osseo-Fairchild stiffles Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball in Cloverbelt Conference Crossover first-place game

ALTOONA – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped as it lost to Osseo-Fairchild 48-35 in the first-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Saturday night at Altoona High School.

Columbus Catholic, champions of the Cloverbelt East Division, finishes the regular season with a 17-5 record. Osseo-Fairchild, West Division champs, are now 16-6.

Columbus hosts Loyal in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.

Osseo-Fairchild led 27-26 at halftime, then busted open a double-digit lead with a 15-3 run in the third quarter.

Columbus Catholic’s top scorer, Jared Fleischmann, was held to seven points. Jacob Puent led the Dons with 16 points.

Isaac McIlquham had 14 points to lead the Thunder.
