Stratford’s Joe Schwabe named Marawood Conference Wrestling Coach of the Year

STRATFORD – Stratford wrestling coach Joe Schwabe has been named Marawood Conference Wrestling Coach of the Year after the Tigers on the conference dual meet standings and tournament titles.

Schwabe coached the Tigers to wins at the Schoenherr Duals and Akey Duals and the Division 3 championship at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse in December.

Eight Stratford wrestlers won individual Marawood Conference Tournament titles and two others finished as runner-ups.

Stratford also won a WIAA Division 3 regional title and had six state tournament qualifiers, including 195-pound state champion Dondrick Tackes and 126-pound runner-up Alex Heiden.

Tackes was named as the Marawood Conference Wrestler of the Year. He finished with a 35-1 record and a perfect record in the Marawood.
