TIGERTON – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team’s run to the state tournament came to a bitter end Tuesday with a 4-3 loss in 11 innings to Pittsville in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal.
The Dons’ season ends with a 10-12 record.
Pittsville (17-5) went on to defeat Wausaukee 3-2 to win the sectional championship and advance to the 2014 WIAA State Spring Baseball Tournament in Appleton on June 17-19.
Pittsville will play Lake Country Lutheran in a Division 4 state semifinal on June 18 at 8 a.m. The Division 4 championship game is June 19 at 9 a.m.
