Pittsville, Krohn shut down Auburndale

AUBURNDALE – Kyle Krohn threw a two-hitter and Pittsville took advantage of seven walks and six Auburndale errors in a 9-1 Marawood Conference South Division baseball win Friday at Auburndale High School.

Scott Marx had double and Tony Altmann knocked in a run with a single for Auburndale’s only two hits off Krohn, who struck out seven and walked two in a complete-game effort for the Panthers.

Rhys Wahleithner took the loss for Auburndale, allowing eight runs (five earned), six walks and four hits in five innings, while striking out four. Ben Bolder gave up one run in two innings of relief.

Pittsville (5-2, 4-1 Marawood South) scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings before Auburndale gained its tally in the fourth. The Panthers responded with a four-run fifth to knock out Wahleithner and take a commanding lead.

Auburndale (2-6, 1-4 Marawood South) is back in action Monday at Stratford.
