Spencer softball wins again

AUGUSTA – The Spencer softball team put up 20-plus runs for the second straight day, and won again, beating Augusta 22-7 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday.

The Rockets, who scored 25 runs in a 25-17 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday, continued their hot hitting.

Spencer (2-3, 2-2 Cloverbelt East) vaulted from last to fourth place in the standings by virtue of the two victories and will take its two-game winning streak into a nonconference game at home Monday against Stanley-Boyd.

Dani Johnson was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Dominique Stange was 3-for-5 and Krystal Weier had four runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Rockets’ offensive attack.

Nicki Bruss picked up the victory, striking out five and walking five, and also added two hits and three RBIs. Paige Johnson also had three RBIs for Spencer.
