STRATFORD – Chris Newburry tossed a six-inning two-hitter and Conner Brock smacked a home run to lift the Stratford baseball team to a 10-0 win over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday.

Newberry did not strike out a batter and walked just one in posting the efficient victory as the Tigers (5-7, 3-3 Marawood South) won for the second straight time following a four-game losing streak.

Auburndale (2-7, 1-5 Marawood South) lost for the fourth straight time.

Rhys Wahleithner and Jake Schar had singles to account for Auburndale’s two hits.

Stratford scored twice in the first and added another in the third to take a 3-0 lead, then finished off the game via the 10-run rule with a seven-run sixth inning.

Austin Hawkins took the loss, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (seven earned) and three walks in five innings, while striking out four.

Matt Griffith and Dustin Doll each went 2-for-3 for Stratford.

Auburndale plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption and Stratford is home vs. Edgar on Thursday. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
