Stratford has five relays, five individuals qualify for sectionals at WIAA Division 2 Tomahawk track regional

TOMAHAWK – All four Stratford girls relays teams had top-four finishes to qualify for sectionals at the WIAA Division 2 track regional at Tomahawk on Tuesday.

The Stratford girls had three individuals also qualify for the Division 2 sectional, which will be Friday at Amery.

Two individuals and one relay team made it to sectionals for the Stratford boys.

The top four in each event move on to the sectional. The top four at the sectional will qualify for the 2015 WIAA State Track and Field Championships in La Crosse on June 5-6.

Brianna LaSee had the Tigers’ only regional title, taking first in the girls long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 4½ inches.

Johnelle Miner took third in the 800 meters (2:33.95) and Holly Huther was fourth in the discus (93-9) for the Stratford girls.

The 400 relay team of EmilyHauke, LaSee, Tori Dietel and Keyarra Dahl (53.49) and the 1,600 relay of Hauke, Alexis Lapee, Dahl and Ingrid Bender (4:23.99) finished second. The 3,200 relay team of Miner, Kaylee Hollatz, Clare Thompson and Bender was third (10:26.83), and the 800 team of Hauke, Lapee, Dietel and Dahl was fourth (1:51.03).

John Geissinger had the Stratford boys top performance, taking second in the pole vault (12 feet).

Geissinger teamed with Jacob Zuelke, Kyle Giebel and Mark Wenzel to place fourth in the 3,200 relay (8:42.70) and Zuelke was fourth in the 800 (2:04.89) to also qualify for sectionals.
