Marshfield tennis drops Valley finale

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys tennis team wrapped up its regular season at 1-5 in Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meets following a 5-2 loss Tuesday to Wausau West at the Boson Courts.

Nick Ackerman won at No. 1 singles and Jacob Twardowski won a three-set match at No. 3 singles for Marshfield’s two victories.

Ackerman beat James Parks 6-3, 6-0, and Twardowski downed Sam Mowrer 6-4, 6-7 (7-3), 6-3.

Marshfield lost all of the other five matches in straight sets.

The Tigers will participate in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet on Thursday at Wausau West and East high schools. WIAA subsectionals are scheduled for Monday at Stevens Point Area Senior High, and the Division 1 sectionals are back at Wausau East and West on May 26.
