MARSHFIELD – D.C. Everest scored a goal in each half and held Marshfield to just two shots on goal in a 2-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer win over the Tigers on Thursday at Griese Park in Marshfield’s home finale.

The Tigers drop to 0-11 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with the loss, and 2-15-2 overall with a nonconference game at Medford on Friday, another at Merrill on Tuesday and their Valley finale next Thursday at Stevens Point left on the regular-season schedule.

Alyssa Brenner, Sarah Wolfe, Katie Marotz, Megan Marotz and Aisllinn Koehler led a strong defensive attack for Marshfield, assistant coach Steve Lindner said, but the Tigers couldn’t get enough going offensively.

Naomi Crump, making her first WVC start in goal for the Tigers, had seven saves.

“Naomi hid a very commendable job in goal and since moving up to varsity recently has showed some real determination and aggressive goalkeeping skills,” Lindner said.

Kristen Churkey scored with 8:51 left in the first half to give D.C. Everest a 1-0 lead, and Ellen Kessel found the back of the net again for the Evergreens 5:03 into the second half to make it 2-0.
