Marshfield boys hockey falls to Sauk Prairie in Tomah tournament final

TOMAH – Sauk Prairie scored twice in the third period, including the game-winner with less than 6 minutes to go, to push past Marshfield 3-2 in the Tomah Invitational boys hockey championship game Saturday afternoon at the Tomah Ice Center.

Marshfield pulled out to a 2-1 lead on goals by Ryan Krueger and Evan Weister in the second period, but couldn’t hang on.

Aziah Webster scored 7:36 into the third period to tie the game, and Dayne Leonard hit the game-winner for Sauk Prairie with 5:29 to go.

A.J. Trierweiler had 25 saves in goal for Marshfield (1-2).

Marshfield plays nonconference games at Tomahawk on Tuesday and Medford on Friday.
